Missions principales

Sous la supervision du Protection Officer – Child Protection et l’orientation du Team Leader, l’Assistant Protection – Protection de l’Enfance appuiera la mise en œuvre d’initiatives « apprendre par le jeu » dans les services éducatifs ciblés à Tripoli, en conformité avec la Politique de protection de l’enfance de DRC, les SoP Libye et les Standards minimums. Il/elle participera aux formations et coachings, suivra techniquement les éducateurs, facilitera des activités de groupe et communautaires adaptées à l’âge, au genre, à la diversité et à la vulnérabilité, et favorisera des dialogues participatifs. Il/elle contribuera aux espaces amis des enfants, à la gestion de cas et à l’intégration avec les autres secteurs DRC. Il/elle garantira la confidentialité des données, utilisera les outils de reporting et collaborera avec les équipes MEAL pour le suivi-évaluation et les retours. Sous coordination du Program Manager et du Team Leader, il/elle représentera DRC auprès des bénéficiaires, communautés, enseignants, travailleurs sociaux, agences humanitaires, prestataires et autorités locales. Il/elle soutiendra aussi la logistique, l’administration, les finances ou la sécurité selon les besoins.

Profil recherche

Le poste requiert au moins un an d’expérience humanitaire, idéalement en protection de l’enfance ou auprès d’enfants ; une expérience en MHPSS ou protection générale sera considérée. Une pratique dans les espaces amis des enfants, les approches communautaires ou scolaires est préférée, ainsi que la maîtrise du cadre Child Protection in Humanitarian Action. Le/la candidat(e) doit connaître les normes internationales de protection et droits humains et les Standards minimums de protection de l’enfance. Il/elle doit savoir représenter une ONG, bâtir la confiance, utiliser MS Office, et faire preuve de sensibilité culturelle et d’un fort esprit humanitaire. Un diplôme en éducation, sciences sociales, psychologie, développement communautaire, communication, affaires humanitaires ou domaine connexe est requis ; une formation axée sur l’enfance est préférée. L’arabe écrit et parlé est indispensable, avec une bonne connaissance de l’anglais.

Le contrat est proposé jusqu’au 31 décembre 2026, pour un poste basé à Tripoli, en Libye. La date de démarrage suggérée est le 11 octobre 2026. Le poste est classé Band NMI. Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Protection Assistant - Child Protection.

About the job

DRC will provide child protection services for children in Tripoli to respond to the pressing humanitarian needs. To prevent and respond to the risk of exploitation, violence, abuse and harm, DRC will establish Child Friendly Spaces and provide case management services to children at risk. In addition DRC will train and support educators to use learning through play methodologies in education services. The Protection Assistant - Child Protection will therefore support learning through play initiatives in accord with DRC’s Child Protection Policy, DRC Libya specific SoPs and the Child Protection Minimum Standards.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Programming & Operations

  • Under the guidance of the Protection Team Leader - Child Protection and the supervision of the Protection officer-Child protection implement learning through play initiatives in selected educational services in accord with DRC’s Child Protection Policy, DRC Libya specific SoPs and the Child Protection Minimum Standards.
  • Participate in trainings and ongoing coaching with regularity and preparation; and incorporate relevant follow up and technical advice in day to day implementation
  • Provide ongoing coaching to educators implementing learning through play initiatives with the support of the Protection officer-Child protection
  • Facilitate group and community based child protection activities per DRC activity guidance and technical feedback, ensuring developmentally and contextually appropriate service delivery
  • Conduct activities relevant for the evolution of the Child Protection and overall Protection programme per the request of the line manager in a manner consistent with trainings and technical guidance
  • In coordination with the Team Leader (and Officer), use solid participatory approaches with attention to age, gender, diversity, and vulnerability criteria, to facilitate meaningful dialogues that enable participants to self-identify protection concerns that affect their communities

Reporting

  • Respect data confidentiality and protection at the highest standard
  • Ensure proper use of tools and online platforms provided for effective reporting, in adherence with orientation and coaching by the Team Leader and PIM
  • Collaborate with the MEAL teams in carrying out monitoring, evaluation, and feedback activities within the target areas.

Coordination and representation

  • In coordination with the Program Manager and the Protection Team leader, represent DRC to a range of stakeholders including individual beneficiaries and community groups, teachers and social worker of schools targeted under the project, humanitarian agencies, services providers, local authorities, etc. To this end, ensure professional standards and transparent communication to build trust and collaboration with concerned stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and integrate with other DRC sectors during field implementation as needed and advised by the Protection Team Leader.
  • Ensure interactions by staff with individual beneficiaries and community groups take place in environments and in ways that respect and promote safety, agency and dignity in accordance with professional standards for protection and humanitarian work.

Operations support

  • Support the coordination of program activities as they relate to logistics, administration, finance, or security as relevant, in coordination with the relevant departments.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant internal policies and directives.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 1 year of professional experience in humanitarian interventions, preferably in child protection or a field requiring close work with children. Experience in related fields such as MHPSS and General Protection would also be considered.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Experience in child protection activities within child friendly spaces and community-based approaches or schools preferred, experience in other Protection and humanitarian activities requiring communication with groups diverse in age and gender will also be considered
  • Demonstration of the competencies of the Child Protection in Humanitarian Action framework will be considered in the recruitment process.
  • Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards, and CP Minimim Standards.
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively represent a humanitarian organization with the individuals and communities and build trust
  • Basic use of MS Office applications
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, ability, and willingness to work with all groups of population, including vulnerable migrants and refugees.
  • Field-oriented attitude and strong humanitarian spirit.
  • University Degree in the field of Education, Social Sciences, psychology, Community Development, Communication, Humanitarian Affairs, or any other related field. An educational background specifically requiring work with children will be preferred.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic.
  • Good Working knowledge of English.
