Missions principales
Le/la Coordinateur/trice des finances à Nairobi assure la coordination financière des programmes de LAW en Somalie, Éthiopie, Soudan et Soudan du Sud. En lien avec les gestionnaires de programme et le siège de Genève, il/elle gère la comptabilité, les paiements, les appels de fonds, les prévisions, les rapprochements bancaires et de caisse, l'allocation des coûts administratifs, la paie et les taux de change. Il/elle prépare budgets maîtres, rapports financiers, plans de dépenses et demandes de financement. Il/elle garantit la conformité aux politiques de LAW et aux exigences des bailleurs (NORAD, US, FCDO, EU, agences ONU), coordonne les audits locaux et soutient l'audit annuel. Point focal des partenaires locaux, il/elle révise leurs rapports financiers, gère les avances et renforce leurs capacités en gestion budgétaire et conformité. Ce rôle contribue à une mise en œuvre transparente et responsable des programmes de justice et droits humains en contextes affectés par les conflits.
Profil recherche
Le poste exige le droit légal de travailler au Kenya, un diplôme en finance, comptabilité, commerce ou gestion, et une qualification CPA-K, ACCA, CIMA ou équivalent. Le/la candidat(e) justifie d'au moins cinq ans d'expérience similaire en ONG internationale. Il/elle maîtrise les obligations fiscales et statutaires kényanes : PAYE, TVA, retenue à la source, NSSF, SHIF/SHA. Une expérience avec les cadres NORAD, US, FCDO, EU ou ONU est requise. La maîtrise avancée d'Excel et de logiciels comptables d'entreprise (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Navision ou similaire) est attendue. Le poste requiert un excellent anglais écrit et oral, la capacité de vulgariser des sujets financiers, un esprit analytique et créatif, et la résistance aux délais serrés. L'expérience de formation et d'accompagnement de partenaires locaux est un atout.
Conditions proposees
Le contrat est à temps plein pour 12 mois, avec possibilité d'extension sous réserve du financement et de la performance. Le poste est basé à Nairobi, au Kenya. La rémunération annuelle est de 3 660 000 à 3 780 000 KES selon l'expérience, plus avantages sociaux. Le/la titulaire doit avoir le droit légal de travailler au Kenya. LAW intervient dans 18 pays ; ce poste soutient les programmes en Afrique de l'Est et s'exerce en coordination avec les équipes programme, les partenaires locaux et le siège de Genève.

Legal Action Worldwide (LAW) is an independent non-profit association comprised of human rights lawyers and jurists united in our belief that those who have experienced human rights violations and international crimes should receive targeted, survivor-centred, gender-competent and trauma-informed support to access the justice they deserve. LAW’s team operates on the ground in conflict-affected contexts combining national and international expertise. We work directly with survivors and their communities, building their capacity to meaningfully engage with justice and advocacy processes. Alongside this, we provide technical assistance to strengthen justice institutions to ensure they are equipped to deliver justice and work with legislators to promote accountability and the rule of law.

THE POSITION
LAW’s Nairobi office manages programmes across Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan. It is strategically based to build networks and partnerships, and work with a wide range of stakeholders to advance on human rights and accountability.
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Finance Coordinator to work closely with our Programme Managers in the Africa region, as well as our Finance Manager at our headquarters in Geneva. The Finance Coordinator will be responsible for strengthening effective management and coordination of internal and external financial operations as well as supporting capacity building for our local partners. This will include assisting partners with the preparation of budgets, related to grants and funding while ensuring compliance with LAW’s policies and donor requirements.
The Finance Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring that LAW is complainant with policies and and donor requirements.

Where? The position will be based at our Nairobi Office in Kenya.
Duration: Full-time position for 12 months, possible extension subject to funding and satisfactory performance.
Salary: Insert salary range Kes. 3,660,000 to Kes. 3,780,000 a year (based on experience) plus benefits.
What will you do? ensure LAW is consistently producing high-quality master budgets, financial reports, monthly banking reconciliation and audits are conducted in a timely manner.
You will perform duties in accordance with the responsibilities outlined below:
Accounting
- Process all transactions in LAW’s financial accounting software, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepare and upload banking payments for approval.
- Prepare monthly cash calls and quarterly forecasts for disbursements and spending.
- Allocate admin costs to each grant on a quarterly basis.
- Implement and monitor financial controls including bank and petty cash reconciliations to be approved by the Programme Manager.
- Work in collaboration with the Finance team in Geneva, to ensure that transactions are accurately allocated and provide monthly intercompany account reconciliations.
- Collate all invoices related to the specific grants managed and ensure these are processed and paid in a timely manner.
- Lead on local grant audits in Kenya.
- Support the Geneva Finance team to prepare the yearly statutory audit.
- Review monthly payroll and ensure timely payment of salaries
- Provide the monthly exchange rates to be registered in LAW’s financial accounting software
Budget and Grant Management
- Prepare in collaboration with the Programme Manager, the yearly fixed costs budget.
- Ensure compliance with LAW policies and accounting principles, and donors’ regulations in relation to finance and procurement.
- Deliver accurate and up to date financial related matters and monthly budget follow up and spending plans for all grants.
- Prepare all potential amendments to grants budgets as and when required.
- Support the Programme Manager with preparing the budget for any new grant proposal.
- Ensure optimal allocation of expenses in line with approved budgets and projected expenditures (master budget, consolidated allocation tables, etc.).
- Maintain financial archives in accordance with LAW’s internal policy and donor requirements.
- Draft and prepare funding requests and financial reports for donors.
- Support with preparing and managing internal and external audits as per donor policies;
- Coordinate and be focal point with partners and implementing partners for LAW and be able to provide training as and when required to field partners.
- Review all financial reports from partners and ensure archiving of all supporting documents;
- Prepare advance payments to partners as and when required.
About You
- The legal right to work in Kenya.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Commerce, business management or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) qualification or equivalent professional accounting certification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Minimum five years demonstrated experience or more in a similar position working for an INGO.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan statutory and tax requirements, including PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax, NSSF, SHIF/SHA, and other regulatory obligations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in Excel.
- Track record and experience with donor frameworks such as NORAD, US, FCDO, EU, UN agencies or other institutional donors.
- Experience with financial management systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Navision or similar enterprise accounting software
- Flexibility and ability to under pressure and meet conflicting tight deadlines.
- Ability to communicate to a wide range of stakeholders including technical financial matters to individuals not versed in financial management.
- Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills, including ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and to effectively problem solve and troubleshooting.
