Missions principales

Le Global Safeguarding Lead, ou Responsable mondial de la sauvegarde, porte la stratégie et les standards de sauvegarde de CorpsAfrica. Il/elle supervise techniquement les responsables sauvegarde pays et garantit la mise en œuvre cohérente du dispositif : plans d’action annuels, évaluation des risques, calendrier de formation, outils de signalement et d’orientation, matrice de risques de genre et protocole du Registre des interdictions d’embauche, dans les 11 pays d’intervention. Le poste est point d’escalade senior pour les incidents, pilote la gestion des cas et assure une réponse centrée sur les survivants, avec voies d’orientation pour les cas graves. Il/elle encadre les Safeguarding Officers, fixe des KPI, conduit des points réguliers et évalue les performances. Il/elle conçoit ou supervise les formations, mène la due diligence sauvegarde des nouveaux bureaux, partenaires et fournisseurs, et gère le reporting auprès du conseil et des bailleurs. Il/elle représente CorpsAfrica dans les communautés PSEA/sauvegarde et gère le budget de la fonction.

Profil recherche

Le candidat ou la candidate est titulaire d’un bachelor, idéalement d’un diplôme avancé en travail social, santé publique, développement international ou domaine connexe. Il/elle justifie de 7 à 10 ans et plus d’expérience progressive en sauvegarde, PSEA ou protection de l’enfance et des adultes au sein d’organisations internationales de développement ou humanitaires. Une expérience avérée de gestion d’une fonction sauvegarde multi-pays, idéalement en Afrique, est requise, tout comme l’encadrement d’une équipe distribuée multi-pays. Le poste exige la gestion de cas et la réponse centrée sur les survivants, ainsi que la conception et l’animation de formations. La maîtrise des cadres de conformité des grands bailleurs est attendue, avec une préférence pour la Mastercard Foundation. L’anglais courant est obligatoire ; le français est fortement souhaité pour les bureaux francophones. Des déplacements régionaux de 30 à 40 % sont requis, avec d’excellentes compétences interculturelles.

Conditions proposees

Le contrat est à temps plein, exempté, basé dans l’un des bureaux de CorpsAfrica en Éthiopie, Gambie, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Maroc, Rwanda, Afrique du Sud, Sénégal, Côte d’Ivoire ou Ouganda. CorpsAfrica was founded in 2011 by former Peace Corps Volunteer Liz Fanning with the idea of turning community development in Africa over to local changemakers. During her own service, Liz was approached by young Moroccans who wanted to be Peace Corps Volunteers so they could help people in their own country, but she had to tell them it was only for Americans. www.corpsafrica.org

Since launching its first program in Morocco in 2013, it has expanded to 11 countries across the continent and aims to expand to all 54 of Africa’s countries in the next ten years. To date, CorpsAfrica has hosted hundreds of volunteers across Morocco, Senegal, Malawi, Rwanda, Kenya, Gambia, Ethiopia, Gambia, South Africa and Cote d’Ivoire, who have completed over 800 projects, including building wells, schools, roads, and irrigation systems; establishing literacy programs; and supporting vegetable and livestock farms.

Overview of the Position:

The Global Safeguarding Lead will own CorpsAfrica’s safeguarding strategy and standards organization-wide, and provide technical supervision to a growing network of in-country Safeguarding Officers, ensuring consistent implementation of CorpsAfrica’s existing safeguarding operationalization suite, including annual plans of action, the organizational risk assessment, the training calendar, incident reporting and referral tools, the gender risk matrix, and the Do Not Hire Registry Protocol, across all 11 countries of operation.

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Own and continuously strengthen CorpsAfrica’s global safeguarding policy framework, standards, and annual plans of action, grounded in the CorpsAfrica Operating Manual and funder compliance requirements.
  • Serve as the organization’s senior point of escalation for safeguarding disclosures and incidents; oversee case management and ensure a survivor-centered response, including management of referral pathways for serious cases.
  • Provide technical line management and day-to-day supervision to safeguarding officers across the organization; set shared KPIs, conduct regular check-ins, and review performance.
  • Maintain and administer the Do Not Hire Registry Protocol organization-wide, including pre-employment screening for staff, partners, and Volunteers.
  • Design and deliver (or oversee delivery of) safeguarding training for staff, volunteers, and Safeguarding Officers, maintaining and refreshing the existing training calendar and materials, and building Officers’ capacity to train locally.
  • Own the organizational safeguarding risk assessment and the gender risk matrix; update both annually and after significant incidents or program changes.
  • Lead safeguarding due diligence for new country offices, program partners, and vendors.
  • Manage safeguarding reporting to the Board of Directors, funders, and relevant parties,, including incident reporting timelines and compliance documentation.
  • Represent CorpsAfrica in external safeguarding communities of practice and stay current on PSEA / safeguarding sector standards.
  • Manage the safeguarding function’s budget.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in social work, public health, international development, or a related field preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in safeguarding, PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), or child/adult protection within international development or humanitarian organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a safeguarding function across multiple countries, ideally in Africa.
  • Experience directly supervising a distributed, multi-country team.
  • Case management and survivor-centered response experience.
  • Training design and delivery experience.
  • Familiarity with major donor safeguarding compliance frameworks (Mastercard Foundation experience preferred).
  • Fluency in English required; French proficiency strongly preferred given CorpsAfrica’s Francophone offices (Morocco, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire).
  • Willingness to travel regionally (30–40%).
  • Exceptional cross-cultural communication skills, with a patient, service-oriented approach to supporting remote, international teams.
